Using Essential Oils To Create Peace And Everyday Wellness

I first discovered doTERRA essential oils in 2013, and they have become a routine part of my everyday life since. I use them to support my wellness and self-care, to create calm, and for endless uses in my home. Their oils are science-backed, tested for purity and safety. This makes incorporating them into my daily routine a relaxed experience, knowing I'm standing by a product from a company with high standards. After lots of research and trying many brands, doTERRA became my trusted choice. Beyond quality, their mission resonates with me. Their ethical sourcing, commitment to sustainability and educational resources make every use feel purposeful. Knowing the oils are responsibly produced gives me confidence in aligning with them.

What are essential oils?

If you are brand new to essential oils, think of them as the natural, concentrated essence of plants. They are aromatic compounds extracted from leaves, flowers, roots and seeds that contain the plant's natural “life force.”

They carry the plant's unique benefits, whether it’s calming, energizing, supporting immunity or enhancing focus. I like to think of them as little bottles of intention and wellness that you can use to bring more presence into your everyday life.

Whether I’m diffusing oils during meditation, enhancing deeper sleep, supporting my immune system, adding to my cooking, or creating calming rituals in my home, essential oils have helped bring balance to my everyday.

Some ways I like to use essential oils:

Home: For a peaceful, grounded environment, try diffusing a few drops of lavender, balance blend or frankincense. For a more energized room— I like to diffuse Lemon, peppermint or wild orange to uplift and awaken my senses.

Wellness and immune support: For immune health, especially during seasonal changes, doTERRA has a line called On Guard, which is amazing for this. Tea tree or oregano are amazing too. Peppermint and lemon are common go-tos for helping with focus and digestion.

Sleep and relaxation: To help support my nervous system, I love to use Lavender, copaiba and frankincense combined are great for a restful sleep.

Yoga and meditation: Sandalwood and Frankincense enhance deep focus and mindfulness. There is also a blend called Balance blend, which I like to massage into the soles of my feet to help with grounding myself or diffuse to create a relaxing, intentional space for breath work and presence.

Beauty and self-care: I love to add geranium, rose or lavender oils into my skin care routine to support radiant, glowing skin.

Cooking: Some doTERRA essential oils can be used in the kitchen and can boost the flavour to recipes. I always add them to my cooking or baking. Such as a drop of lemon, wild orange to brighten, smoothies or peppermint for teas and desserts.

Some added tips for beginners:

  • Start with one to two oils that resonate with you.

  • Pair oils with calming mindfulness practices like yoga or meditation. Notice the difference in how you feel before and after your practice.

  • Experiment with diffusing blends, inhaling a drop from palms or gentle topical use. ( Always follow safety guidelines.)

Essential oils have quietly supported me for nearly a decade, helping me create mindful rituals across wellness, home and self-care. If you would like to explore any of the ones I mentioned, you can find them in the link below:
